Planting & Growing Zone

Question from Nancy:
I live in Hesperia, CA. My zip code is 92345. My elevation is approximately 3700 ft. What is the planting/growing zone for my area?

Answer from Pat:
Hesperia, California where you live is in the Mohave Desert roughly 15 miles north of San Bernardino, in an area characterized as High Desert. This is Sunset Zone 10. Deciduous fruit trees, such as apples and peaches, should grow really well in Hesperia since there is adequate winter chill, but there is also a long growing season. Apple Valley and Victorville, two of your neighboring towns are also in Zone 10.
