Artichoke Plant and gophers

Question from Kerry:
I had this beautiful artichoke plant that I found almost completely wilted tonight. I believe gophers have attacked the root of the plant. Can it be saved? Should I dig it up and try to revive it? I appreciate your help.

Answer from Pat:
Yes you can save it. Plant it in a wire basket and see my video on critter control. Plant the new one from a cutting with a little root attached. Also see my video on artichokes.

Always put hardware cloth under raised beds to control gophers.

  1. Why don’t you try using organic fertilizer to really inject a lot of nutrients to your plant. I think you can still save it. Used brewed coffee beans are also good fertilizers. Source: http://www.ivegetablegarden.com/
