Passion Fruit Propagation

Gardening Question from Ed:

I am trying to propagate passion vines but some of the plants fail after germination.. in fact after several weeks of growth.  The plant develops leafs that become shriveled and the plant eventually dies.. Is this something that I may be doing wrong or not doing at all?
I could send you pictures of viable plants and what appear to be the sick ones that were germinated at the same time.

Answer from Pat:

Your plants are most likely damping off, which is caused by a fungus. Be sure you are sterilizing everything: container, tools, soil mix, etc. and try using distilled water for irrigation. Don’t feed for first week or two but after plant has developed 2 real leaves then begin fertilizing with weak solution. Make sure light is bright.
Personally I would not bother with any of this. My life is incredibly busy and any way to save time and get on with life is the way to go for me. But that’s just me! If propagating passion vines, regardless of difficulty makes you happy, Go for it!!!
